Oonagh Derby is a fresh and original singer songwriter from Co. Armagh in Northern Ireland. Her musical background is in traditional music learned “around the kitchen table” with her family and later as part of the traditional band Nua. Oonagh has since branched out, writing and performing her own original contemporary songs that have an energetic roots/folk style to them.
Oonagh has recently released her debut album “Harmony Street” to great critical acclaim in both musical and commercial circles. The album picked up “Best Newcomer” award from the Live Ireland (“Livies”) in Chicago – the first time the award has ever been given for a non-traditional album. “Harmony Street” also made it onto the shortlist for the BBC Folk Album of the Year,a rare thing for a debut album!
Oonagh is currently enjoying a highly productive time on the concert stage, having recently done many high profile gigs such as The Shetland Festival, Féile an Phobail, The Nashville Songwriters Festival and Hammersmith London, to name but a few.
Oonagh is project manager and musician here at RedBox and continues to write songs with a variety of talented people.
